NEW GALLERY | Capri
On Saturday April 16th, 2022 at 12 noon Studio Trisorio will inaugurate a new venue on Capri. A white cube in the heart of the historic centre will be the site of this project, conceived by Laura Trisorio.
«Based on the idea of the island and the impressions it evokes, three themes were selected for our artists to work on: light, nature, and memory. On a large central wall that we have called project wall, there will be a succession of site-specific works inspired by these themes and details will be periodically provided regarding the artist involved in this special project and the theme addressed» – declared, Laura Trisorio in describing this new adventure.
Christiane Löhr will inaugurate the project wall with an installation dedicated to the theme of nature, realized with thistle seeds.
Studio Trisorio has a long history that is intertwined with that of the island of Capri. As early as the 1970s, the most celebrated exponents of contemporary art, including Joseph Beuys, Jannis Kounellis, Mario Merz, Cindy Sherman, Ettore Spalletti and Cy Twombly, only to name but a few, as well as museum directors, gallery owners and critics were guests of the Trisorio family at Villa Orlandi in Anacapri for long periods of time. These occasions of encounter and exchange gave rise to several iconic works such as La rivoluzione siamo Noi (1971), a world-famous image of Beuys in the villa's entrance. The new space on Capri intends to continue that in this tradition, participating dynamically in the island's vital atmosphere and the international ambience.
From April to October, a series of group exhibitions, events and unique experiences spanning the gamut between art and nature, will be held in keeping with the eclectic character for which Capri has always been famous and celebrated throughout the world.
