Umberto Manzo
In his "memory archives", Umberto Manzo stratifies drawings in the thickness of the frame and, occasionally, the papers re-emerge through the silhouettes of classical figures, profiles of faces, anthropomorphic landscapes, evoking the idea of an infinite narration that bridges the past and the present.

Unmistakable figures in Umberto Manzo’s language are the body and memory, elements that the artist has been investigating since the 1980’s, using heterogeneous materials and techniques such as photographic emulsion, graphite, oils, colours, vegetable glues and wax on supports such as paper or canvas.
In his “memory archives” he layers his drawings and places them in the thickness of the frame, then creating on the surface the outlines of classical herms or profiles of faces, through which the papers re-emerge with infinite narratives.
Umberto Manzo has exhibited in numerous public and private venues both in Italy and abroad. His works are included in leading, international private collections. A large-scale work has been permanently installed in the Cilea Station of the Naples Metro System and some pieces are part of the Capodimonte Museum and the Madre Museum collections in Naples.
He has been working with Studio Trisorio since 1987.

Umberto Manzo ha esposto in gallerie e spazi pubblici in Italia e all'estero.
